An   IT   consultant   with   over   20   years   experience   working exclusively   with   Progress   OpenEdge   to   develop   GUI,   Web, Mobile      and      Back-end      systems .            Experienced      in methodologies   from   Waterfall   to   Agile   (XP,   Scrum)   I   am comfortable   working   as   part   of   a   large   team   or   as   a   sole agent   responsible   for   all   aspects   of   delivery   from   design   to implementation. I   have   work   for   companies   varying   in   size   from   a   few   staff to    multinationals,    covering    a    diverse    range    of    markets including     wholesale     banking,     car     hire,     debt     recovery, telecommunications,    commercial    print,    transportation    & logistics, high street retail and manufacturing. I    am    adept    at    business    analysis,    systems    development, database   design   &   administration   and   system   performance tuning.      My   primary   skill   set   includes   Progress   OpenEdge   7 to   11,   AppServer,   HTML5,   JavaScript,   CSS3,   SQL,   Syteline   6 ERP,    Jetform    (aka    Adobe    Central    Output    Server)    and general graphic / web design. Specialising    in    the    Progress    RDMS    with    an extensive   understanding   of   best   practice   for configuration,    resilience,    backup    /    restore policies   and   maintaining   ongoing   efficiency.      I also   have   exposure   to   SQL   and   the   Progress Oracle Dataserver.

Probably   my   main   single   Front-end   exposure has   been   developing   Windows   GUI   solutions utilizing     standard     GUI     elements,     ActiveX controls and .NET components.

Coming    a    close    second    to    GUI    in    terms    of experience,   I   have   developed   Web   solutions for    public    facing    web    sites,    internal    web portals       and       shopfloor       handheld       PCs (Datalogic,    Symbol)    using    both    bespoke    in- house Webspeed frameworks and PS:eScript.

I   have   taken   courses   on   IAP’s   SkinClient   and SkinClient   Mobile   products   and   I   am   currently self-learning       the       Progress       Telerik       and Rollbase mobile platforms.

Extensive   experience   of   producing   Back-end batch    processing    in    Progress    4GL    and    OS scripts   for   tasks   such   as   bulk   processing,   data manipulation           and           transfer,           print management,    system    administration    etc.        I am    also    experienced    with    AppServer,    Web Services, XML/SOAP, JSON etc.

Without       correctly       structured       and       well maintained   databases   and   efficiently   written code,    systems    will    have    hidden    costs    and productivity   issues   for   their   entire   life-cycle.      I have    always    focused    on    looking    ‘under    the hood’    and    using    the    full    gamut    of    Progress and OS tools available to optimise my work.

I   have   worked   with   Syteline   6   ERP   for   over five   years,   three   of   these   providing   the   sole administration   for   an   installation   running   in   a three   site   multi-entity   configuration.      I   gained an    in-depth    understanding    of    this    product from   all   angles   and   was   able   to   enhance   its functionality considerably in that time.

I   am   an   experienced   Jeftform   /   Adobe   Central Output      Server      administrator      and      form designer    with    over    three    years    experience maintaining      and      creating      forms      for      an installation   serving   three   separate   sites   across the     UK.           I     can     also     program     Datamax, Intermec and Zebra label printers.



Although    not    formally    educated    in    graphic design   and   layout   I   have   a   personal   interest   in this   area   and   have   created   graphical   content for      many      professional      IT      projects      and websites for friends and associates.

I     have     made     use     of     a     wide     range     of miscellaneous    complimentary    IT    tools    and utilities     including,     amongst     many     others: Roundtable   TSMS   (source   control),   AutoIT   3 (automation      &      scripting),      Firebug      (web debugging),    Xara    Designer    Pro    X11    (graphic design).
